Well, it's week two of my schedule and it been yet another busy one. So many things going on that it's sometimes hard to pull out 5 things. That said, I have managed to go through my brain and list out 5 of my top moments this week to share with you. They range from nights out and productivity tools, to show based on autism.
Bonfire night in Poole is so much fun, well, its fun in most places. The thing I love about it in Poole though is that you get the free fireworks down on Poole Quay. So, just so you know, there is no bonfire - so its bonfire without the bonfire night.
What they do have though, they have street entertainers performing. They have a band playing. The pubs and chip shops are selling. More importantly, they have the free firework display at the end of the night. Just to say, that although its free, it's not cheap fireworks and it goes on for 10-15 minutes too.
So, yes, it was one of my top 5 things this week without a doubt.
So, series 2 of The A Word started. For those that have not seen it, it's about a family who have a young son who was diagnosed with autism - this happened at the beginning of series 1.
It really centers around the family and how they accept it, and how they get some acceptance from around them, as well as the usual things that other parents do - i.e. no birthday invites...
Its good to see, how, in the second series they have grown a little and are more accepting. If you've not seen it, take a look at it on catchup.
So, one of my goals is to be more organized. I want to be better at planning and producing, not just posts, but everything. I have both a PC and a Macbook and I saw a great deal to get the final 0.99 beta of this application on the Mac. This deal also means I get V1 when its out.
Informant basically combines the calendar and tasks tools on a Mac as well as being able to set up projects, add tasks, notes, dates and all that. Basically, you can set up a project on something like 'update website' then add tasks and dates on those tasks. It then keeps you in check with reminders and so on.
It allows me to plan what I want to do, posts included, add my notes and keep it all in one tool with reminders when I boot up, or if on Macbook a reminder comes up when a task is due. This tool is really going to help my productivity moving forward I believe.
It's not all about apps this week, honest. However, another app I got through a deal from stacksocial (that sites really takes my cash) is called Freeter. Again, another tool that I got to help with my productivity.
What this tool allows me to do is setup tabs of, well, kind of like large taskbars. In them, you can put tools such as web browsers for a specific page, set them to be normal or mobile looking. You can add tools, commands, different projects.
S0, an example maybe when I want to redesign my website. I can run tools to do specific things like file edits, then have the browser tools open so that I can see, in real time, both from a browser and mobile view browser. You can move the widgets around design the layout to best suit and improve your productivity.
As I said, it's not all about the apps but these two came in this week and are, hopefully, going to help with my productivity - I know, I keep repeating that over and over - let me call it workflow instead.
As I say, this week has been quite a busy one. It has also included some really early starts when little Mr. decided to wake up at 3am and then make sure we were up. Then decided it was playtime for an hour or two.
So, the last couple of days of the week I was running on autopilot. So, yes, Friday evening was definitely an enjoyment - to know that I have a couple of days to semi-recharge.
So, that's my top 5 list of things I've enjoyed this week. What about you? Have you got some items you would like to share? If so, why not share them with us in a comment below.
